Ok. I have worked every evening for almost 2 weeks to get wallpaper off. I have tried the DIF, hot water, and hot water and soap~~and it refuses to come off. I have decided that it has had years to set in and the former owners used super glue to put it up, :) . I am at the point to just paint over it. I had planned to paint the walls after I got the wallpaper off but I am now getting impatient. Can I just compound the seams and sand and just paint over it? Obviously I don't have to worry about the wallpaper coming off or bubbling since nothing is doing it now. Any input or advise would be MUCHLY appreciated! :wall:

i would say yes, just use joint compound to even everything out, sand (a damp sponge works great on j.c. and doesn't produce dust!) but then PRIME before painting, so you get an even finish.

This is the only situation where we condone painting over wallpaper. Its always best to remove it
I would use a sanding sponge on the jc.
When its smooth, prime with an oil based primer. Don't use a latex or acrylic primer.

I sawa program on hgtv just recently where they had to remove old wallpaper. They scored the wallpaper and sprayed or damped it wth fabric softener,It came off quite easy.I've never tried it but it souned plausible.
