We are buying a house that has well water. I've been told that it is a very large well (it actually has cement steps to walk down into it!). The previous owner that has had it for 2 1/2 years has not changed the water filters or really used the softner. Everything is extremely orange/red colored including the washer so it must have a lot of iron in it.
My question is what kind of water softener would be good for well water. Possibly one that doesn't use salt but that isn't a big issue. Then I want a whole house filter to help with drinking water, shower, washer, etc. There are two people in the home 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths. Please let me know if there is anything other information you need to help me. I don't know much about this so I'm sure I've left something out.
I would love to know size of softner and filter that I will need as well as brand names if possible. Thanks so much for your help in this matter.

Get some water conditioners out to your house.......talk to many different companies, see what they have to offer.......we are not allowed to post advertisements on this forum, or anything that sounds like it......the "whole house filter" you're looking for is a softner......then you would have a reverse osmosis installed for drinking and cooking
