My old luxaire central air system isn't working. The system cools for an hour or two then the breaker trips shutting off the outside fan unit. If I re set the breaker the same thing happens. Already replaced the filter and thermostat batteries but still no luck. Anything I can do today; it's hot and humid today?

Had same problem, spent alot of $ having it looked at etc ended up getting talked into a new unit, breaker still tripped with even with new unit. I finally myself replaced the breaker which costs less than $10 and has not tripped since and that was 3 months ago... other unit was real old anyway but I still think it was just a bad breaker in my case.

My Dad suggested that too. I'll try it first- thanks

Make sure it's not the outside fan that stops causing the breaker to trip, might have to be around the unit to see if the fan indeed quits.

The outside unit definitely stops running.
