Hi Everyone! I am used to gardening, simple things, like plants, flowers the lawn etc. However, this year I picked up a cheap little pail and watermelon seeds for a $1.00 at Target. I thought my niece would get a kick out of growing something. So we started the seeds in the little pail, then when they were about 3-4 inches tall, we transplanted them. Well, they've gotten huge! These vines are really taking! They have already produced some flowers that are turning into melons! However, I've never grown watermelon before, but I've heard alot of people have had thier crops ruined by bugs, and was wondering if there was something I could do to prevent them before they become a problem?? Is there something I can concoct at home? I would really hate to have to use chemicals. Please help!!!

Spraying soap and water solution is often effective on insects. There are some organic sprays, such as hot pepper spray, that can be used.
