i was left a home stereo system which was already connected, It has various component brands. It consists of a reciever,cd player , phono , cassette player and 2 15's and 2 EQ's its fairly old the fact that it has no amp and 2 eqs should i be concerned ???

also has a built-in amps? Check the back of it and see if it has speaker connections.
Sometimes 2 eq's are used, one eq will control the right channel out and the other eq the left-this is more common on an eq that can adjust a within a narrower range of freqencies, ie more sliders, better control you have over the sound. Look closely at one of the eqs, does it have right/left channel markings? My only other idea is that one eq may have been used for one source, say the tape deck, and the other eq is controlling something else, like the speakers or cd, or record player. Since a good eq isn't cheap, I'm sure that there's a good reason for 2 of them.
