I know absolutely nothing about Air Conditioning. Is the refrigerant line supposed to be cold because of the refrigerant (freeon) going through it? I had the A/C guy out and he recharged the coolant and thought I might have a leak but refused to look for it. After 4 hours, only coolish, warmish air is being blown out and the temp is not going down in the house. When I checked the refrigerant line, it was hot. Let me know.
thanks

There are two refrigerant lines, one small & one large. The large line is usually covered with black foam insulation. The small line should be warm & the large one cold & wet (where exposed to the air).

You called a service company and they refused to do the work?? Just gas -n- go ??
What is the temp coming out and what is the temp at one of the return ducts??

Lazy tech, call another tech that will help you with finding your leak.

We don't know the whole story. Let's not throw stones. I agree he should have done at least a visual. He may have had a dozen service calls he was expected to handle or his company's policy may be to do a gas & go, then the office follows up with a phone call such as: "Hello, Mr. Smith, this is XYZ Air Conditioning Service Co. Joe was at your house & suspects there is a leak in your system. We would like to make some arrangements to come out & do a thorough check of your system." We just don't know.
