Water Heater

My sister's power was out for almost two weeks. When the power was turned back on, the water in the house was hot for only one shower. Since then the water heater has not worked. When the power was turned back on, the breakers in the house were turned off to prevent a power surge. According to my sister, the water heater's element is working. Is there anything else that could be wrong? What else can she check?

You said "element" as in single element. Most electric heaters have two elements. One is the primary and the second keeps the water hot. She needs to check both elements. Good luck.
