Carrier Central Air unit -Air works normally some of the time but intermittantly the outside compressor and fan shut off before reaching the desired temp while inside fan continues. In this mode, the unit will not restart by itself. After resetting the thermostat after about 20 minutes, the unit goes back on again and works for a while and then shuts off again. Sometimes just the outside fan stops and compressor continues.

Pressure gauges indicate pressure is normal so High Pressure Switch and Low PS aren't causing it. Also, I jumped the HPS to be sure it wasn't clicking off in case I didn't see the pressure go up. 24V is present so thermostat is working correctly.

I had the start up capacitor replaced about 2 months ago.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this would be appreciated as it is hotter than Hello here. Getting an A/C guy out here is impossible, I've called about 20 with no luck until the middle of next week.

HELP!

Chances are you either have a bad fan capacitor or the fan motor itself is going. Capacitors are cheap & easy to replace. The fan cap would normally be between 5 & 15 microfarads. The ratings are marked on the capacitor body. Before removing, make sure the power is off & short across the capacitor terminals with a well insulated screwdriver.
