 We have electric heat/AC, two outside units and one inside units in the attic. The roof upstairs started leaking, so we called the repair guy. He said he can try recharging condeser fluid which stopped the leak ...for a week. then it started again. This time he went into attic, with a shop vac, sucked all yucky stuff out. This unit is 15 years old. The guy says theres too much gunk that he cannot say if there is a leak from the tubes and also beacause of insulation. He said he is not sure if he has fxed the problem and I might see a leak again. He says this whole unit is grungy and needs to be replaced. The units are cooling properly. Should I go ahead and do it? Thanks in advance.

" He said he can try recharging condeser fluid which stopped the leak ..."
Just charging the unit won't fix the leak, it must be found and then repaired in order to stop the leak.
If the leak is found and repaired and the unit cools then I say you could be ok for now, but at 15 years old the best years are behind the unit.
