Hello,
I'll be replacing my deck this coming week, as the current deck is rotting apart due to bad care by the prior owners. I'm hoping to save as much money and do it as cheaply as possible for now, as it's just a basic 12' by 24' deck, 3' off the ground. How far apart can the joists be for 5/4" radial edge pressure treated lumber? I've heard some reports of 16" and some of 24" being alright as well. I'm hoping to save a lil by using 5/4 x 6's instead of 2 x 6's, but want to ensure its done safely.
Thanks!

I would never put 5/4 treated decking on anything but 16" centers. That stuff has knots in it that can weaken it severely.

5/4 belongs on 16" OC unless you are installing it at a 45, then 12" OC.
