I really don't have much of a clue when it comes to an air conditioner, so I will throw this out to someone.
My ac runs fine. It is appropriately cold. Last night we heard quite a bit of water leaking but couldn't determine where from because it stopped by the time we got to it. Today a lot of water has leaked.
I found that the water is leakinf from the pvc pipe that is coming out from the coils. Like I said---the only thing I know about ac is that it cools---and that seems to be fine. The coils are damp and slightly rusted. I know the condensation can make it damp. Should the coils be damp or rusted?
Where should I start? I would rather not have someone come out if I don't have to. Should I attempt to clean the coils? Could the PVC be clogged? What is the normal amount of water going through the pvc? It only leaks after the ac shuts off. Would it be ok just to make the leak stop?
Any help would be much appreciated. This isn't my field but I can usually work my way through things with a little help.
thanks in advance,
jt
