I'm not quite sure what you are getting at. Are you looking to insure a new car and have a 5 year old one right now? If you have a loan on the vehicle the lender will require you to carry collision.

I have a 5 years old car which has collision coverage. Now i am buying a new car and want to carry the coverage to the new car.

You will provide the information about the new car to your current insurance carrier. You just have to tell your carrier to include collision as part of the insurance on the new car. Like I said before, if you are taking out a loan on the new car the lender will require you to carry collision anyway.

ditto.. you will pay more with a new car but could prob get some discounts esp. if have home owners with same insurance company. ALWAYS get several quotes from diff carriers.

Good chunk of auto insurance pays for the liabilty coverage, even though they tend to make you see and think different. Thats why as you car gets older and worth less your premiums tend NOT to go down but rather up!
