Is there anyone out there that knows what grout fortifier is ? Could it be the same as cement fortifier? Am I in the wrong forum?

I don't know for sure but I think both are similar, because most grout contains some white portland cement. If you really want to know, I can tell you how to compare them. Obtain the product names of each, then look them up in one of the free MSDS data bases on the Web, and compare the ingredient list.

Some grouts and thinsets are fortified (or modified) with a liquid latex. This process dramatically improves strength and adhesion.

The liquid latex is relatively expensive, so I only use it when I have to. I believe it currently sells for about 26 dollars per 2-gallon container.

Powder thinsets are available that are already latex fortified, so no user planning is required. For other grouts and thinsets, the latex fortifier is mixed in, in place of some (or all) of the water. Read the instructions on your grout/thinset packages. Some products specifically state that latex fortifiers must not be used.

The ingredients on the bag are,"portland cement, graded silica, latex modifiers, colorfast pigments." In the instructions it says," Before using latex admixture with this product contact the manufacturers technical department." Does any of that mean that there is already fortifier(latex modifier, latex admixture)in it or that it can't be used? Thanks for your help!
