when laying tile in kitchen hall entry and dining the rooms are all different shapes. Where do I start? Do I start in the middle of the largest room or as a neighbor said. Start at an angle in the cornor.

A professional tile-setter will consider a large number of factors, more than you would want to deal with.

The bottom line is - make it easy on yourself. Each room you set dictates the placement of tiles in every room that follows. Lay a row of tiles out (dry) and run the adjoining tiles into each room. If the room turns to the right, run a row of tiles in that direction into that room.

Having done that, can you establish that moving ANY of those rows will make the job easier? In other words, can you eliminate extrememly small cuts or particularly difficult cuts by shifting a row?

If so, move that row, and then move EVERYTHING accordingly. Again, make it easy on yourself.

Hint: the added height of ceramic tile in front of a dishwasher may make removing the dishwasher a nightmare. Running the tile under the dishwasher may prevent the dishwasher from going back into its space. Measure these heights early in the planning stages.
