I need some tips/advice on determining the distance between railing posts. If I only had one striaght one I can figure it out no problem. My problems are caused when trying to figure out an even spacing between the 2 sides and front of our deck. It is common practice to keep all spacing between rail posts the same on all sides of a deck...correct?

I have 2 other situations to consider as well :wall: :

1. There is a 2nd level (1st and 2nd story decks), should the rail posts be spaced equally on both levels?
2. I'm going to have a set of stairs going off the each level. Do I simply figure the spacing w/o steps, then use one of the posts as one side of the stair handrail and add another 36" or so away as the other stair handrail (despite the difference in spacing w/ the rest of the posts)?

Any advice you can give would be GREATLY appreciated.
