I am looking for the name of a shrub that I think is a juniper. It grows very vertical and has a formal look. I have seen some in Minnesota that are about 6 feet high and only a foot or less wide. I think I saw the same shrubs much taller in Italy.
I am in the Minneapolis area and have an application along the entry of my front door. The front of the house faces southest.
What am I looking for and is it hardy?

If it is a juniper, it could be juniperus vinginiana, either "blue arrow" or "skyrocket".
