I have six Better Boy tomato plants that all have yellow blisters on the plant stems. The plants are also looking a bit wilted and the fruit is small. Is there hope, or, is it time to pull 'em and wait til next year?

Bacterial canker disease, caused by Corynebacterium michiganense, is contagious and can be very destructive of field and greenhouse crops.

Always remove diseased plants from garden immediately and destroy. Do not place in compost heap. Wash hands before touching other plants. Wash garden tools in 10% bleach & 90% water solution to prevent infecting other plants. Buy healthy plants from a reputable garden center. Practice crop rotation. Treat soil with microbial fungicide before transplanting seedlings.
