How to keep the air handler running...After compressor shuts off?

How can I keep my air handler running for a few min. after the compressor shuts off? My compressor is new and the coil stays extremely cold for quite some time after it shuts off. If the blower stayed running for a while after it shut off it would probably make it a lot more efficient. (?)
Aren't they supposed to do that anyway. Maybe I've got a wiring problem.

My air unit is pretty old, the coil and compressor are 3 ton.

For the norm they don't. It could be done but would only run maybe 2 minutes before room temprature air would start coming out.
