Hi,

I use a portable air-conditioner in my bedroom, vented out a rear window fitting. The unit is 10,000 BTU. Frankly, it ain't great, but it's better than nothing. I've been wondering if people replace the plastic flexible ribbed tubing that comes with these units with something better insulated? I am trying to cool the room, but I have 6 feet of 6" hose radiating warmth into the air. Does this make sense?

And if so, what is the right kind of material to use? Thank you.

With these type of unit, the that blows out the window has to be made up... so I am sure you are getting the warmth back into the room/house.

If you got some type of blanket, you can use that???

Well, I suppose a blanket, or anything insulated, would be better than the bare radiating plastic. But isn't there anything "standard?" I mean, these types of hoses are often thought to be identical to dryer hoses, but most laundry rooms do not waste a lot of energy on air conditioning. In my bedroom it is different. Isn't there some kind of insulated flexible pipe made?

There is fiberglass flex, but I wouldn't advise it if you have children.. Or it'll be something itchy. :-(
