I need help installing a ceiling fan with a light on a 3 way switch that currently controls the light from the 1 and 2nd floors.

I would like to control the fan separately (pull chain) and the light from the light switch. The box on the ceiling currently has 4 white wire and 4 black wires. The ceiling fan/light has a black and white wire as well as a blue wire to separate the operation of the fan.

Can someone help me on how to connect the wires so that switching the light on and off does not turn off the fan.

Thanks
Martin

Is there something connected to the box already that is controlled by the switches? It will have two wires connected to it. One of them should be connected to all the whites. The other one will be connected to one of the blacks.

For the new fan.
The blue wire is the light. Connect that to the black wire that was connected to the old fixture.
Connect the white wire to the other white wires.
Connect the black wire to the other black wires.
