I am trying to create a curtain wall that is 12" away from the wall so that I can cover some shelving for storage.

The distance that I need the curtain wall to be is 10'.

For such a long span what type of hardware do I need? Do I have to mount a support bracket into my ceiling or can I have some kind of bracket that can be attached to the wall with an "arm" that extends 12" , which is the depth that I want the curtain wall.

I am thinking of using a curtain that has the metal grommets.

Does anyone have any ideas??

i would use a ceiling track, like they use in hospitals for the room dividers. you won't have to worry about brackets or supports or sagging, and it'll be a clean look from floor to ceiling.

Ikea sells big cheap curtain rods, I got one for a 120 inch window for 8.99 last week. If you don't happen to live near ikea, I would use electrical conduit, copper pipe or pvc. They can be cut with a hack saw, and you will find a slew of fittings at the hardware store that could be used for your config. Also I recommend screwing them into studs since such a long run will have a lot of weight. If you are using heavy draperies, don't use pvc it will sag. Also any lettering on the pipes can be cleaned off with fine sandpaper, and the pipes will look shinier. Hope that helps!
