View Full Version : Terrazzo repair
I have a terrazzo floor under the carpeting in my LR. I would like to remove the carpet and repair the terrazzo. The problem is nail holes (some of them a little chipped around the edges) left by the nails from the tack strips. What would I use to repair the holes? Some sort of compound? Also, what could I use to try to remove any adhesive and stains? Another person has said they tried acetone, and it dissolved the cement around the marble chips. Any help is greatly appreciated!
The polyester filler to repair the holes with can be purchased at a marble supply store. Remove glue with a razor floor scraper. Realistically honing and sealing terrazzo is beyond the home do-it-yourselfer. The restoration is best left to a qualified contractor.

I have yet to use it, but at home depot i found Speed Finish Patching and finishing compound. In the directions it suggests using acrylic mortar admix instead of water to aid adheshion wich they also had in stock.

terrazzo is an epoxy resin that is poured and then left to dry at which time they return to sand and buff out to a smooth and consistant evenness and shine.I dont beleive you will find any thing remotly close to that at h.d. or lowes, there are only 1 or 2 shops here in mo. that even do this anymore,if you do find something that will stay in the hole it more than likly will not match.See if you can find a terrazzo guy in you're area you might try a tile shop or a specialty marble refinsher that may know what to do or where to look:cool:
