counter top tiling

We are tiling are kitchen counter tops. Do we have to use a specific type of grout or can you use the kind that you use on floors. Also, is there a certain finishing coat that can be used to protect the grout from getting stained. Please help. Thanks!

Generally grout is either sanded or unsanded. The type you use depends on the width of the joint. Typically for counter tops unsanded grout is used. After the grout has set apply "silicone grout sealer".
