Hello Pros:
This is my first post in here so please be easy on me.
I have a 5 years ( I was told when i moved in ) old York AC unit outside and now it is not cooling enough to cool the house. This is connected to my heat as well.
during the end of Winter, i noticed that my house is not able to keep it warm. It takes a long time to warm the house. And it is happening with the AC to keep it cool.
I called the first tech and he came out and spend about 4 mins ( i wasnt at home at that time ) and explained to my wife that the outside unit and the evoprator unit needs to be changed. The reason to change the evoprator coil is to keep AC and the inside unit in the same capacity. Also he told that there is no gas ( i guess he is referring to freon) in the pipe or system.
Then i searched this forum and found the ways to find if the outside unit is bad or not. I checked the outside pipes and there are two pipes. One small and it is warm/hot and other one is cold and little bite swetting. Also the evoprator coil outside is also condenced/swetting.
I called another HVAC person and he inspected the outside unit and told me that it is low on freon. He added more freon and told me let it run for a day or two.
After he added the freon, the system put little more cool to the house but i found there is water leaking/overflow from the drain pan.
Now this makes me to think that i have problem/block in the evoprator unit.
Am i correct?
What would it take to clean the system? I looked around the system and it looks like i can open the system for about 3 inch to look around but i did not do that yet. The area where i can open the system, they have the drain pipe, two lines to the AC unit are all connected.
Is there any easy way to do this cleaning work?
If i hire tech to do this, how much would it cost me.
Please advice.
