My husband is building a shed 10 x 14 to be finished with vinyl siding. We are afraid that using roofing paper behind the siding will make the builiding very hot. A ridge vent is being used as well as a small window. Can another material be used other than roofing paper?

I don't think tar paper or house wrap (Tyvek) will make any difference in the temperature of your shed. The sun will be hitting the siding, not the black tar paper. If you want to cool down the shed you can insulate.
