I'm converting a bedroom into a den. My wife wants to install 4 canned lights, one near each corner of the room (small room 4 will be plenty).
Currently i have a ceiling fan with a light kit. The fan is wired to two switches on the wall, one for the fan motor and the other switch for the light kit. My wife wants to replace the current fan (different color and design) with just a fan and no light kit and have canned lights take over as the main lighting. The new ceiling fan motor will be wired to one switch on the wall.
My question is can i simply wire the four canned lights to the switch that controlled the light kit?
Also, the canned lights will each contain a 75 watt reflector bulb (i'm guessing). Will the current circuit (20 Amp). support the addition of the 4 canned lights? This will be the only electrical addition to the room. There will be a tv / vcr plugged into the wall and maybe an end table lamp as well. There are currently 4 receptacles in the room.
Thanks

The circuit has enough capacity to handle the lighting & receptacles. If the romex from the switch is 3 wire {black, red white & ground} you can probably use the black for the fan & the red wire to feed the Hi-hats
