Hello, I recently moved into a 70 year old house. The basement has a concrete floor that is painted and the paint is wearing off.

I want to paint the floor but am not sure if I should get concrete paint or try the garage epoxy paint. The area is about 650 sq feet. Any thoughts?

What surface prep do I need to do? - obviously clean it but is that all. It doesn't appear to have a glossy finish.

Thank you for the help and advice.

find out if the paint is oil/alkyd or latex. Rub it with some denatured alcohol, and if it melts the paint, its latex. If it stays hard, its oil.
Choose the finish product to match the existing paint.
Scrape up any loose or chipping paint, and just basically make sure its a clean, sound surface to paint on.
