I am finishing my basement and just discovered that my basement slab is 1 inch thick. I bought the house 1 year ago, when the basement was nothing but cement, and I want to know if I have recourse. Should I be worried?

I would suggest you verify that the floor is only 1 inch all over. It is very difficult to pour concrete this thin over an entire area. If is only 1" thick it should have some cracks.

If it is a new home and is only 1" thick you should have some recourse. The builder should correct it.

If it was an older home when you bought it you will have a difficult time since the previous owner may not have known and did not have to disclose it.

Most new homes have a 1yr warrantty. If the year isn't up yet notify the builder NOW. If it is under warranty you want to establish the claim before time runs out. As the previous post noted it is doubtful the whole floor is only 1" thick. Probably the gravel was either unevenly distributed or some one just kicked up an area while working.
