The ceiling fan wiring has white / Black with Red capped. Switch on wall has black wire and red wire to switch with all whites capped together. The switch does not turn on ceiling light. Any ideas ?

It's hard to spot your error when you didn't really say what you did. But I'll try anyway. Connect black from light to red from ceiling. Connect white from light to white from ceiling. Cap off (with a wire nut) and don't use the black from the ceiling.
