Help!!!!! I purchased a celing fan and installed it some time ago.. It seemed to work correctly... a while ago it seemed to start having some problems... It would run slowly and when you turn the light on, it would speed up the fan...
I thought it was a problem with the fan itself but, I purchased a new one today and wired it as directed Blue and Black wire to the Black and White to White and green ground to the solid ground wire coming from ceiling... The new fan does the exact same thing as the other one did.... I really need help with this problem... Sometimes the old fan would correct itself and run correctly and then go back to the slow mode at times... I have installed other fans in the house and they seem to work ok... Any HELP would be appreciated to fix this problem....

In the ceiling box, not counting the wires from the fan, is there exactly one black wire, one white wire, and one bare wire? No more? And there is no remote control involved? And the wall switch is a simple toggle on/off switch? And there is just one wall switch involved?
If you answered yes to all of the above, then shut off the breaker, gently pull the switch out of the wall without disconnecting any wires, and describe everything you see.

There is only 1 black wire, 1 white and the solid ground in the ceiling box There is no switch involved... I am using the pull chains... This is an old house... the fan goes around in a slow mode when on the fast mode until you turn the light on which is in the ceiling fan then it goes to the speed that it should be at but, once you turn the light off it drops back down to slow speed...

I received the following message from mariah:
John, Hopefully you can help me with this problem... The ceiling fan does not run off a switch.. it runs off of the chains that come with it... it has the white wire, blackwire, and the bare metal ground coming out of the ceiling the fan runs slow when on the high mode and speeds up when the light is turned on... if you pull the chain to turn the light off it slows down the fan again... I know it is not a faulty fan because I have tried 2 fans and they both do the same... It use to run correctly once in a while but, now it runs this way all the time.. I have tried removing the blue wire (for the light) and that does not change anything except the light does not come on... but, the fan still goes real slow in high mode... the fan has a blue, black, white and green wire... I hooked the blue and black together to the black from the ceiling and the white to the white and the green to the bare ground and grounded it to the box... Maybe this is just a lack of imagination on my part, but I can think of nothing that can cause these problems except a faulty fan.
