Installed new Harbor View Remote Controlled Ceiling Fan in a 1953 home bedroom with previous ceiling fan w/light fixture-On/off light switch, could also turn on/off fan & light via on pull chain.

Wiring as follows:

CEILING: (1) black wire, (1) white wire.

REMOTE RECIEVER:
a. On one side of the receiver two wires as follows - (1) black wire marked AC IN L, (1) white wire marked AC IN N
b. One the other side of the receiver three wires as follows - (1) black wire marked TO MOTOR L, (1) blue wire marked FOR LIGHT, (1) white wire marked TO MOTOR N

FAN: (1) black wire, (1) blue , (1) white wire, (1) green wire

CEILING MOUNT: (1) green wire

Wired as follows:

Ceiling Mount (green) > Ceiling Fan (green).
________________________________________________

Remote Reciever (black AC IN L) > Ceiling wire (black).

Remote Reciever (white AC IN N) > Ceiling wire (white).
________________________________________________
then

Remote Reciever (black TO MOTOR L) > Fan (black).

Remote Receiver (white TO MOTOR N) > Fan (white).

Remote Receiver (blue FOR LIGHT) > Fan (blue).
_______________________________________________________________

Didn't do anything to the light switch itself but turn it on. Light switch wires are as follows: (1) black wire on bottom screw, (1) white wire on top screw. When looking at the light switch, both wires are located on the right-hand side of the switch. No other wires are present.

Fan/light doesn't work.

Troubleshooting done as follows:
Jumper switches on both receiver and remote configured the same.
Remote Control battery is installed and good - tested.
Ceiling wires are recieving 120 volts as tested and retested.
Fuses in fuse box all good.
Reset "main" fuse thing.
Tried a 2nd Remote Receiver from another box, configured jumper settings correctly.

All to no avail. It is as though the fan isn't getting any power. Nothing at all happens.

After reading approx. 400 of the posts in this forum trying to find a resolution on my own, I wasn't able to find anyone with this exact issue...I did learn a few things though :-)

Any ideas, input or help would be FANTASTIC and very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for time, attention and expertise!

Regards, B.Noble

look in your ceiling box a gain....if your switch has only one black and one white on it..then your cieling box must have 2 blacks and 2 whites in it? or your switch has a couple of wires marred together??

ceiling box and wall switch both have one black and one white as previously stated.

i am going to take another stab in the dark here...be sure in yoru ceiling box that the black wire and teh white wire are not reversed ...you may have to hook the white to the line in on the remote and teh black to the neutral (this reversing of the power has happened before)

hmmm. ok, could be. i'll try that in the morning after my huband leaves for work. he gets all upset when i start experimenting with electricity.

i'll let you know. and thanks for your efforts. i really do appreciate this. many ceiling fans need to be installed and the last time i had an electrician install one for me, it was nothing short of wildy expensive... a few dollars more than the cost of the ceiling and the ceiling fan was $260 dollars. No special situation either AND I put the whole thing together so he didn't have to waste his time installing blades and such.

Having just one black wire and one white wire at both the switch and the fan is unusual. That's because if these wires run from one box to the other, there is no source of power. There are three likely explanations: There are extra wires in the back of one of those boxes that you didn't notice before. There is a junction box somewhere where those two cables come together along with the power cable (this is not a common wiring method). You're looking at the wrong switch.

there is only one switch in the room.

If the fan/light has a manual switch, pull chain. that switch will need to be on before it will work on remote.
