We currently pump from a pond, thru 2 filters and then a UV light on to the pressure tank and then the house. Today we repaced our burned up pump (or so we thought). It turns out that the filter which has been installed for only 2 months was so plugged that the water couldn't get through. This is a good filter system. I'ts not a cheaper one. Pura UV-3 is the brand. My question is what can I install before the filter system that will remove the alge that clogged it up. Yes there is a filter in the pond. Would a sand filter that we can set to regenerate work??? Thank You starks

I've installed several systems in ponds for livestock use but never for human consumption. The one thing that all of these systems have in common is that they are a nightmare to maintain. Alge, dirt, trash, etc will eventually plug up just about everything in the system. Intake screens etc. that are fine enough to do any good will be the first to clog. It's going to be a battle to keep any kind of filter clean.
