View Full Version : what to do with bright yellow

I have very bright/bold sunny-yellow walls in the bathroom and rather than repaint with several coats to try and cover it up, I'd like to do some type of faux technique -- maybe a wash or a criss-cross glazing of some kind, but what color (I'm awful at choosing colors!)?? I also have beige tiles and would like to incorporate that as well. I'm trying to go for a "cottage" or "beachy" style, and the adjoining lavatory area is white/beige stripe wallpaper with with white beadboard wainscoting 3' up the wall. I had also considered doing a plaid pattern but that sounds way too time consuming and I'd rather do something that's a little more quick and easy with less detail. Would be grateful for color and/or faux method ideas? :coffee:

Thanks!

simply repainting with a couple coats of the desired color will be much easier to do than try to figure out a way to faux over dried bright yellow and have it turn into something else. with beige & white in the next room, you probably just want to get rid of the yellow tone altogether, don't you? any kind of faux effect will leave the yellow showing thru.

I'm afraid you're right and I guess I knew I'd wind up painting over it -- I just thought I'd throw the question out there in case there was some clever alternative I hadn't thought of! I just like to check all options! It really is a very pretty yellow though! :)

Thanks for the input!
