60Hz Hum on Phones in the house

Ever since my Dad had his DSL installed, he gets a mean humming noise (60hz I guess). It was never an issue when he had cable modem service.

I have checked the terminations on the outside of his house and the grounding. All looks good.

It's got to be something with the DSL install. Verizon says there is excessive noise on the lines as of 6/29/05.

Any similar experiences and or fixes?

Has your dad put DSL filters on all his phones?

I would suspect that the DSL filters are not installed.

is verizon saying the noise is a result of premise wiring ?

is the hum there at the NID with all premise wiring disconnected ?
