View Full Version : Plugged Weeping Tile?

Last year I was re-landscaping and had laid a patio down. Before I was able to completely grade the balance of the area, we got a torrential downpour and some of the water puddled and ran down the foundation, carrying with it some of the sand used under the patio. I later noticed some dampness in the carpeting of my fully finished basement, with mold growing on the drywall. Recently I had a chance to remove a built-in cupboard in this corner and found lots of mold behind it, as well, the metal drawer hanger was very much rusted - too rusty for this to be caused by last fall's incident. I regraded the area outside (as good as I could due to the existing grade) but am still getting water in. I can regrade some more but I'm worried that if I do that and it does not solve the problem all would have to be dug up anyway. Is there an easy way of checking the weeping tile to see if it is plugged, and flush it someway?

I don't know if there is a way to check it or not but I believe you will need to dig it up to fix it right. I had a storage bldg built [below grade on 2 sides]. The idiot contractor had the drain tile lower in the middle than at the ends. Never could keep the floor dry until I dug it up and fixed it right. If you have access to the foundation walls, coating them with dryloc may help.
