We are in the process of replacing our tub/shower. All of the info that we have been told or read has said that acrylic is much better than a gelcoated fiberglass. We need a tub that is 30x60. This seems to be limiting us quite a bit. We would like to put in a 2 piece acrylic but have been unable to find one that size. We have seen a 3 piece but did not like the looks of it. Dealers have instead been pointing us towards the Vikrell 4 piece units made by Sterling. These units looked good in the stores but we have had one heck of a time purchasing a tub and wall unit that isn't marred up or have other physical defects right out of the box. Are these a sign of things to come or has our luck just been bad? I realize that this forum is not for name bashing. With that in mind, should we be patient and keep trying for a good one or is there a 2 piece acrylic in our size that we have not yet discovered?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Fireball

You should be able to find one without being damaged. Tell them to ship you one straight from the factory and tell them you will not purchase unless inspected first.

That Sterling Vikrell I have installed numerous times and have no complaints with their product. Probably one of the better units out there.

The 4 piece has locking walls, you have to have that bottom piece dead **** in order to allow for easy installation.

Dunbar,

Thanks for the reply. I have checked a number of sets of walls and finally found one that we think will look good after it is in. The project starts first thing in the a.m. What a 4th weekend!

Thanks again,
