We have a septic and leach field. The weather hasn't cooperated lately and we are VERY short on the rain gauge, about 5 inches to date. The leach field is very evident. Is this normal? Is not, what are we to do? :cheshire:

my dad has that same problem when they are low on rain and he is not watering. just a guess but it is almost like the drainage field is acting like a "french drain". or maybe your grass is just mad at you for some reason  .

That happens alot in dry weather. It should return to normal when the rains come again.

Also, is this over your leaching field or the septic tank itself? I've never had a problem with the grass over my drain field, but whomever installed my septic tank left the top only 3" under ground, barely enough for sod to cover, and the iron loops for removing the thing stick up and ruin my lawnmower blade.
Since there is basically no soil over the cement top of the tank, I have to keep that area watered, even if the rest of the lawn is OK
