One of the major projects left of our year long basement project is to finish the windows. We have 3 basement windows (inside window wells) on which we're framed and finished the walls with ~ 1/2" gaps.

What kind of wood should we use, and does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this? It looks like I'll just have to measure and nail each piece of wood to the framing, lining up the edges with the finished walls and then filling in the gaps where the wood meets the metal from the windows. it looks like it will need a lot of caulk! My main concern at this point is what kind of wood to use.

Thanks!

I replaced my basement windows and used pressure treated wood to frame it out. Good Luck.
