Can someone suggest an easier way to destroy an badly damaged concrete slab then taking a sledge to it? Our house was built in 1933, and the walkway in the back yard is hexagon concrete blocks which are in horrible shape. I want to put down a different type of walkway, but this must come out first. Any suggestions?

I've removed slabs two ways:
1) Sledge hammer. This is tedious work, but, if you can get a pry bar under it (depends on size of slab) and wedge a large rock or peice of concrete under it, it makes breaking off large chunks much each easier.
2) Rent a jackhammer. Much, much faster.
