I hooked up a new ceiling fan last night to replace an old one. Old fan had black, white, blue, and green wires, and it was wired (fan-ceiling): green-green, white-white, blue-red, black-black. New fan can be controlled with remote and has black, white, and green. Ceiling has black, white, red, and green. Wall switch is a double 'slide' model labelled with 'fan' and 'light' and controlled the fan speed and light (with dimmer) for the old fan. Thought I had it, light worked off of the wall dimmer. Fan worked with the remote just fine. But when I turned off the light, the fan stopped working. I have wired as follows (fan-ceiling): green-green, white-white, black-red, ceiling black is capped off. When I connected fan black to ceiling black the light worked off of the 'fan' wall switch. The only other thought was to connect fan black to both the ceiling black and red. Will this work? Any help is greatly appreciated!
