Ceiling fan stuck ON - pull chain broke

I pulled the chain to stop my ceiling fan and it broke off completely - now it is stuck on high speed. It is not controlled by any switch in the room. I can't tell what brand it is, and when I get close to look at it the only external control I see is the directional switch. I'm concerned about it being on 24/7, is that a fire hazard?
What should I do next?

Shut off the circuit breaker. Then get out the ladder and disconnect the ceiling fan from the ceiling wiring. Cap each wire individually. Then you can turn the breaker back on (to restore power to the rest of the stuff on the circuit). While you're up on the ladder, get the make and model of the fan. Then call the manufacturer and have him send you a replacement switch.

Or just head to your local home improvement store; pullchain switches for 2- and 3-speed fans are pretty universal and should run all of $3-$4.
