hi my air handling unit has been leaking water as of lately. everytime when i turn on and use the air conditioner, my air handling unit would start leaking water from top to bottom. when this occur, the water would leak and damaged my wooden floor. i decided to open the cover to check what was happening on the inside and when i did i found out that a plate like container (beneath the coil)that holds the water has melted. could this be the problem since the container has melted, the water would leak as there is nothing to hold it?

Sounds like you have a clogged drain which is causing your drain pan to overflow.
You should see a pvc pipe near the drain, figure out how the drain was setup and then take out a wet vac and try to suck the crap from the pvc pipe out, adding a little bleach would help, add the bleach about 30 mins. before you begin to vacume.

If the drain pan melted it certainly could be the cause of the water on the floor. The next step is to find out why the pan melted. Dirty air filters are a common cause. Ever had a fan motor on the furnace go bad?
