I have a white Frigidaire smooth cooktop. The underside of one of the burners has turned gray and looks terrible! How can I remove the top from the stove and see if the element is bad or if I simply need to clean the underside of the burner? Thank you!

Think they are about the same but I have a Maytag. Lift the unit out of the cabinet and you will see some screws around the top band that hold in on once removed the glass cook top can be lifted off. Be careful, turn the breaker off first and dont drop the glass it is expensive to replace!
