Hi there,

I'm thinking of re-modelling my entire bathroom, including the bathtub (it's purple - yeech).

The bathroom is in a 40-year old house.

When I replace and re-install the bathtub, how do I get access to the drain pipe? I realize that I'm going to have to remove a portion of the wall around the tub to remove it (I'm talking about the walls surround the tub itself) but do I have to go through the wall on the other side or the ceiling below it to unscrew/re-screw the tub into the drainage?

Or do I just stick my hand into the wall opening that I've made and reach underneath (which means that I won't be able to see anything).

I can't get a clear answer. Everywhere I look, all of the pictures are of people installing into new bathroom, without surrounding walls, only support beams.

Thanks.

hi
cut drywall about 2 inches high around the bathtub
then
remove the inner part of the drain in the tub
inside the drain part it shape like a + insert the end of a pair of ajustable plier
between the + and twist of counter clockwize it should come off then it will be free from the plumbing drain
