I have recently acquired a late fifties 12’ travel trailer. I am in the process of restoring it and I have 3 specific items that I need help with.

1) The dining table is missing. I plan on building a new one with a formica top and it will need break down into a bed. The size is 27 X 38. I was considering using ¾” plywood. Will this suffice without any additional support and not bow when used as a bed?

2) It has a factory propane interior light, stove and heater. They are fed by copper lines. Do these need replaced or updated? Or should I try and fire it up and just see if it works?

3) I would like to add a 12 volt system for interior lights and a couple outlets. Is there a kit or diagram explaining how to go about this?

I consider myself pretty capable of all these projects I just want to get started on the right foot. Any advise, plans, diagrams, anything would be helpful!

3/4" ply is more than sufficient for what your doing.

3 If you plan on never pluggin in a deep cycle battery with a fuse should be able to carry a few light, otherwise an inverter will be necessary. All you need is one wire from the battery to any of your lights or switchs and onother wire from your battery to ground, use the frome of the chassis for ground.

2 Try to let gas in, use a soapy spray bottle to squirt the connections and if you see no bubbles you can then try and fire up the appliances, You may have air in the lines which may mean the stove, etc, will have to try to be lit many times. Don't give up. If the copper lines are solid amd have no leaks keep them original.

Thanks Easywind!

How about that inverter system? What is involved there?

An inverter needs to be hooked up to the battery and the battery needs a way to recharge. There are any mumber of ways to do this, run a set of jumper wires from a running engine, a solar panel or a small genset.
