What is the best way to stop a ceiling fan wobble?

I had to put the 12 inch rod instead of the littler one from the box to the fan and it wobbles making an unbearable noise.

Thanks.

Fan installation instructions suggest various approaches to controlling wobble. You can also buy inexpensive fan balance kits at any home center. Or you can try taping pennies to the top of the blades, but they can fly off so this isn't a great answer. Use a tape measure to measure the distance from the ceiling to the tip of each blade. Your goal is to make that distance the same for all blades.

I should also note that the better quality fans are less vulnerable to this problem. If you only spent $30 for the fan, you can expect more wobble than if you spent $300.

Thanks for the information.

It seems like the wobble is coming from the top in the box where the fan pole comes out from the bottom of the wall . It is a fan that has the ball that sits in the housing. Maybe I need to make sure that I placed it in the housing the correct way. Didn't think of it, but worth a try.

Thanks for the help, and I will let you know tomorrow what happened.

I took the fan out of the ceiling and made sure the ball on top of the pole was sitting in the housing correctly. That fixed the problem. I guess in my haste of putting it together, I missed a simple step, but all is fixed now.

Thanks for the help.
