install bathtub drain

the bathtub drain is leaking so i'm going install a new drain. i put an abundant amount of plumbers putty around the drain so it squishes out as you tighten. how tight should the drain be. should i turn until it stops turning or til its just snug?

Sounds like you have the right idea with the putty. I just snug the drains as they are not super strong and its a pain when you break one while applying unneeded pressure. Good luck.
