i have spent several days now reading through the site looking for answers to my question. i have been to the kenmore site to learn all i can about water softners and how they work. i have the rainsoft manual and know how to adjust settings but it doesnt say anything about what the cycles are, 1 thru 8 (sat thru a regen to watch it). it seems that halfway thru my regen brine cycle it is not sucking as much of the brine out of the salt tank as it put in there in the prior cycle (for it to sit in the salt tank for 2 hours). i have checked all the lines for leaks, blockage etc. i have checked the tube that the suction hose sits in for blockage as well, there is none. originally the problem was no soft water and regen's flooded the salt tank. i drained some of the excess water, even removed some salt, though there was only about 40 lbs in the tank. subsequent manual regens went fine except for the stage where the system was to suck the brine out of the salt tank. it appeared to stop sucking about halfway thru cycle, some of the time the clear tube with the ball had foamy bubbles in half, clear water in half, some of the time less water, more bubbles/foam. unlike the kenmore and other versions my system doesnt have some of the parts the site has recommended for replacement, nor does it have the ability to fast forward to the next cycle during brine, so i can disconnect power to allow it to finish the brine suction. am really trying to avoid a service call for fear of multiple hundreds they may recommend.... please advise........ thank you.
