View Full Version : Automatic Heat Pump reset switch
I have a trane heat pump. If there is a power failure during a duty cycle the heat pump must be reset at the breaker panel (power on/off for reset).
Is there an automatic reset device that I can place between the power source and heat pump in order to do a reset in the event that no one is home?
The reset procedure is very simple: The power breaker must be turned off and on when the power outage is rectified.

If you put a time delay on the compressor contactor that should alleviate your problems. Very simple job if you are electrically sound.
Could you elaborate more on the time delay. I am capable of installing such a device. it would be helpful if I knew the brand, model number, etc., etc. Thanks for info.

Dont know where you can buy there . But a ICM relay #ICM203B will work or anyone like it , This one can go in the 220V or the 24V .That you can set for time off. Then there is a ICM205B its set for 5min off. Wire in the 24V side. I put all of them in the 24 side of the unit. What happens is when the power goes off for just a second and back on the poor compressor tries to start against the high head pressure then ride the klixon till it pops the breaker. With the bad power we have down here I put them in all units. Also the same holds true for you fridge there. Its just as hard on them. Dont forget the PC I have a cheap batt back up on it cause of the power going on and off so much.
