I have lived in a newly built house for just a year. The one shower was used by my elderly ill Father and being we are in Florida, he didn't use the hot water since the "cold" water was warm enough for him.

I went to use his shower for the first time and find there is no hot water at all. I have a one dial Moen turn it counterclockwise for cold first then mixed then just hot. No water comes out at all from the hot. There is hot in the bathroom sink and all through the house. Because the year warranty was up just this past week, I don't want to have to pay a plumber to come in.

I took the plate off the wall and found a screw on the hot side and one on the cold (right) side. Turning the screw on the cold when the water was running shut it off then turned it back on. On the hot side, nothing happened.

Any suggestions before I call a plumber??

Those are integral stops built into the valve.

Sounds like the hot side is clogged up and the only way to find out is to remove the cartridge with the water off, then turn it back on with the cold integral stop off, but turning the hot integral stop on and off numerous times to see if it will free up the obstruction inside the valve.

Let us know what the result is.

You have the Positemp pressure balanced model. There is a balancing spool inside the cartridge, and it is stuck. This happens commonly, and especially since it was never cycled at all during cold-only use. Take the cartridge out and either replace it, or disassemble and lube the spool with some silicone grease.
